Bursaries

The Northern Sunrise County Northern Alberta Development Bursary Program supports residents who are pursuing post-secondary education or skills training that contributes to the long-term strength of our region.

This program is designed to reduce financial barriers for students while encouraging education, training, and career paths that support Northern Alberta communities. Bursaries are available to eligible residents of Northern Sunrise County and the Village of Nampa and may be used toward tuition and related education costs.

Northern Sunrise County offers three trades bursaries of $1,000 each year to support residents of Northern Sunrise County and the Village of Nampa pursuing apprenticeship training.

To be eligible, applicants must be residents of Northern Sunrise County or the Village of Nampa and be enrolled in a trades apprenticeship program with a minimum duration of six weeks.

Applicants are required to complete the County’s application form and submit it to Northern Sunrise County for consideration.

Application intake periods are as follows:

• March 15 to April 15 for May to August courses
• July 15 to August 15 for September to December courses
• November 15 to December 15 for January to April courses

Northern Sunrise County is proud to offer a bursary program that supports residents of all ages as they work toward their educational goals. This initiative reflects Council’s belief that learning and skill development strengthen both individuals and the community as a whole, including our partners in the Village of Nampa.

The program provides two bursaries of $2,500 each year to support students enrolled in two-year college programs. Applications are accepted throughout the year and are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to available funding.

Whether you are starting a new path or building on existing experience, this bursary is one way Northern Sunrise County invests in the future of its residents.
