Northern Sunrise County Youth Council
The Northern Sunrise County Youth Council was formally established in November 2024 through the Youth Council Advisory Committee Bylaw.
The Youth Council was created to provide young residents with an opportunity to learn about municipal government, share their perspectives, and play an active role in shaping initiatives that matter to youth across the County and surrounding region.
The Youth Council is supported by Lynn Florence, Economic Development Officer, who serves as County Administration for the Committee, and Councillor Norm Duval, who acts as Council Representative. Together, they work alongside youth members to provide mentorship, guidance, and a direct connection to County Council.
In 2025, the Youth Council built momentum through fundraising efforts and by leading two successful community initiatives: the Boat Tours and the Youth Dance. These events brought young people together, encouraged community involvement, and demonstrated the positive impact youth leadership can have in Northern Sunrise County.
The Youth Council has the following events scheduled in 2026:
- Two dances
- Peace River Boat Tour with BBQ and games on the beach - July 18, 2026
- Trip to Grande Prairie with activities planned - July 24, 2026
- Day at the PCFGA Shooting Range - July 26, 2026
- Sponsored movie night at River City Cinema in November
