April 28 Council Meeting Highlights

News:

At the regular Council meeting held on April 28, 2026, Administration was directed to schedule a meeting with MP Arnold Viersen to discuss Housing Management Board and Build Canada Homes, as well as the North End Boat Launch in Peace River.

Council proclaimed May 17-23, 2026, as National Public Works Week in Northern Sunrise County.

Presentations:

• Vince Gorham, with the 10 Acre Shaker Music Festival Society, submitted a donation request for their event.

• Rylee Labbe, with Peace River Rotaract, submitted a presentation and donation request for 2026 River Days.

• Felix Bergeron, with the Peace River Boating Association, submitted a presentation and donation request for the 2026 Gold Cup Jet Boat Races.

• Cheri Peterson, Senior Manager with MNP, presented the County’s 2025 Audited Financial Statements.

 

Bylaws:

Council gave third reading to Bylaw B481/26 Tax Rate Bylaw, as amended.

 

Donations and Sponsorships

• $3,500 to the 10 Acre Shaker Music Festival Society for their 2026  Music Festival.

• $5,000 to the Peace River Rotaract Club for their 2026 River Days Event.

• $1,500 to the Peace River Scottish Society for their 2026 Highland Dance Competition.

• $1,500 to the North Peace Gymnastics Club for their 2026 Upside Down Summer Camps.

• $5,000 to the Peace River Boating Association for the 2026 Gold Cup Jet Boat Races.
