Regulated Weeds
The weeds listed below are regulated under the Alberta Weed Control Act due to their invasive nature, which poses significant threats to agriculture and the environment. Invasive plants spread rapidly, are highly competitive, and can quickly displace native vegetation and crops. Weed Inspectors in Northern Sunrise County work diligently to detect and monitor these species.
The Weed Control Act classifies invasive weeds into two categories based on their distribution and threat level:
Prohibited Noxious
These weeds pose a severe threat to agriculture and the environment and must be eradicated.
