August 18, 2026 Council Meeting Highlights
News:
At the regular Council meeting on August 18, 2026, Administration was directed to:
- Provide a letter of support for the proposed subdivision on SE.16.84.20.W5M to the Mackenzie Municipal Services Agency.
- Create a Committee for the purpose of updating the Area Structure Plan for the Sunrise Gateway Business Park.
- Request a meeting with the Minister of Environment and Protected Areas at the fall RMA Convention to discuss weather and radar stations.
Council authorized the Reeve to sign an agreement with Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors for BF81341 culvert replacement and to include the project in the 2027 capital budget.
Council appointed John Croken and Lynne Coulter as temporary members of the Peace Regional Subdivision and Development Appeal Board for the sole purpose of hearing Appeal Files No. 26PRSDAB001-A to 26PRSDAB001-E, effective August 11, 2026.
Council also approved the appointment of Mercedes Doiron, as a Member of the Peace Regional Subdivision and Development Appeal Board for a three-year term, effective August 11, 2026.
Council approved the Terms of Reference for the Intermunicipal Airport Services Advocacy Committee.
Council approved the 2026 Second Quarter Variance Reports.
Council approved the 2027 Council Meetings and Events Schedule.

- Ken Gour, with the Falher Friendship Corner Association, submitted a donation request for their Group Home Mortgage Payout Fundraiser.
Donations and Sponsorships
- $10,000 to the Falher Friendship Corner Association
- A $250 auction item to Peace River Points West for their Harvest Festival Silent Auction.
- A $250 item for the Rural Health Professions Action Plan 2026 Conference.
