March 10, 2026 Council Meeting Highlights
News:
At the regular Council meeting held on March 10, 2026, Administration was directed to:
Provide a letter to the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, urging the federal government to reverse the decision to close the Lacombe Research and Development Centre.
Policies:
Council approved Policy 1.41 Sign Program, as presented.
Presentations:
- John Kuran and Victoria Cornick from Holy Family Catholic Regional Division provided an update.
- Casey Szmata and Angela Sutherland with the North Pece Resource Centre for Suicide Prevention submitted a donation request.
- S/Sgt. Lacey Blair with the Peace River RCMP Detachment provided an RCMP Yearly Update, the Peace Regional Q3 Provincial Crime Statistics, and a letter regarding the Alberta New CPP Community Leadership Initiative.
- Residents Stephanie Hawryluk and Stephanie Warkentin presented information on their proposed Harmon Valley Agriplex Project.
Donations and Sponsorships
- $7,500 to the North Peace Resource Centre for Suicide Prevention.
- $2,500 to the Peace Country Regional Science Foundation for the 2026 Peace Country Regional Science Fair.
- $500 to the Peace River Battle of the Badges for their 2026 Guns vs Hoses Fundraiser Hockey Game.
- $3,000 to Peace Region Minor Football to help with the purchase of helmets.
- $1,000 to the Community Futures Peace Country for the 18th Annual Women in the North Conference.
