February 24, 2026 Council Meeting Highlights

Bylaws:

  •   Council gave third reading and passed Bylaw B480/26, Bursary Review Committee.

 

Policies:

Council approved the amendments to Policy 1.20 Internet Supplement Grant, as presented.


Presentations:

  • Katie Aubin, Leo Simard, and Michelle Dovell, with the Nampa and District Daycare Society, provided a donation request to establish an operating reserve for the daycare.
  • Darin Watson with Sovereign Digital and Joanna Bekkering, Pierre Rocque, Darcy Shultz, Reagan Smith, and Jessica Wang with Maskwa Environmental Consulting provided an update on the Mihta Askiy Data Center Project.

 

Donations and Sponsorships

  • $300 Silent Auction item to the LAHF Troup for their upcoming Star Track, A Space Parody, event on March 7 and 14, 2026.
  • $250 Silent Auction item to the Royal Canadian Legion Grimshaw Branch 253 for their Alberta NWT Command Legion Mixed Darts Tournament on March 13, 14, 2026.
  • $20,000 to the Nampa and District Daycare Society, with the condition that a member of Council be appointed to the society board.

  • March 24, 2026, Regular Council Meeting at 9:30 a.m. in the Northern Sunrise County Council Chamber.
