Access to Information Requests

Northern Sunrise County follows the guidelines outlined in the Alberta Access to Information Act (ATIA) and the Protection of Privacy Act (POPA) for the collection, use, and disclosure of information by public bodies.

Right to Access Information

Individuals have the right to request access to any record held by public bodies.  The Access to Information Act is the public body's access legislation that allows individuals the right to access any record held by the public body, including their own personal information.  This information can include records related to programs, services, policies, and personal information. 


Types of Information Requests:

  1. Personal Information:
    To access your own personal information, such as employment records, complete the downloadable form.

  2. General Information:
    To access general information, such as property records, complete the downloadable form.

 

Submitting Access to Information Requests:

Downloaded forms can be printed, completed, and submitted by mail or in person with the applicable fee to Northern Sunrise County. Depending on the type of request, the volume of records, and other regulations, a processing fee may be applied.

The County has 30 days to respond to ATIA requests, although this deadline may be extended in certain cases.

 

Request to Correct Personal Information
If you notice inaccuracies in County records containing your personal information or your personal information has changed, you have a right to have those records corrected.  Please complete the correction of personal information form and submit it, along with supporting documentation, to have it corrected.
