October 15, 2024 Council Meeting Highlights
News:
At the regular Council meeting held on October 15, 2024 Administration was directed to:
- Send a letter of congratulations to Lubicon Lake Band #453 for receiving approval from the Federal government for the Treaty 8 Lands and Benefits Claim Settlement Agreement, dated October 24, 2018.
- Send Public Works Units #12009 2012 Chev Silverado Cheyenne, #32105 – 2016 Kenworth, #32121 2018 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT 4WD, and #32128 2020 FMC Sierra 1500 SLT 4WD to an upcoming auction, as per Policy 1.2 Disposal of Surplus Items.
- Send a request to the Peace River Regional Airport Association to provide a presentation to Council regarding their donation request which must include the most recent audited financial statements, a Business Plan and the current Board of Directors listing.
Council approved a final one-year extension for subdivision application 21MK036 on SE-23-83-21-W5M to expire on October 15, 2025.
Policies:
- Council approved the amendment to Policy 2.17 Soil Management and Conservation as presented.
- Council approved the amendments to Policy 3.4 Workplace Violence and Harassment as presented.
Presentations:
- Brian Allan, Executive Director, and Sandra Eastman, Chairperson for Mackenzie Municipal Services Agency provided a presentation on their Five-Year Strategic Plan (2025-2029).
Donations and Sponsorships:
- $500 to the Royal Canadian Legion Peace River Branch No. 62 for their annual Poppy Campaign.
- $2,000 to the Peace River Curling Club to assist with the costs of replacing the headers for the ice plant.

- October 29, 2024 Organizational Council Meetings at 9:30 a.m. and regular Council meeting to follow at 11:00 a.m. in the Northern Sunrise County Council Chamber.
- November 12, 2024 regular Council meeting at 9:30 a.m.
