August 8, 2023, Council Meeting
News:
At the regular Council meeting held on August 8, 2023, Administration was directed to:
- Send a letter to the Minister of Forestry and Parks regarding the County’s concerns regarding lengthy wait times for permits, approvals, and centralization of some services.
- Request meetings with the Minister of Finance, Minister of Agriculture, and the Minister of Municipal Affairs at the Rural Municipalities of Alberta 2023 Fall Convention.
- Waive the following amounts on water bills for those residents who experienced higher water usage in the evacuated areas during the 2023 County wildfires:
- 701570.001 $237.11
- 702010.001 $86.22
- 702040.000 $100.59
- 702521.000 $241.90
- 702980.005 $93.41
- 703330.000 $249.08
Council proclaimed September 19-22, 2023, as Alberta Development Officers Week in Northern Sunrise County.
Bylaws:
- Council gave second reading to Municipal Development Plan Amendment Bylaw B422/23 as amended.
Presentations:
- Chris Johnson, Jeannette Danks, Cheryl Fitchie, and Connor Fitchie with the Misery Mountain Board of Directors provided a financial report to Council.
- Kevin Chrenek, Senior Portfolio Manager with RBC Dominion Securities Inc. provided a presentation on the County’s investment portfolio.

- August 22 & September 12, 2023, regular Council Meetings at 9:30 a.m. in the Northern Sunrise County Council Chamber.
- Public Hearing September 12, 2023 for the Municipal Development Plan Bylaw B422/23 at 10:00 a.m. in the Northern Sunrise County Council Chamber.
