About the County
The County is located east of the Town of Peace River. It has an abundance of natural resources with the third largest oil sands development in Alberta, some of the finest agricultural land and wilderness areas for fishing, hunting, and camping. We have a vibrant cultural heritage and a population of industrious and innovative residents.
Northern Sunrise County’s Public Works Department is responsible for the maintenance and construction of County roads and bridges, and for providing utilities to county residents. Its services include dust control, graveling of roads, blading, line repainting, patching, snow plowing, sign installation and repairs. It also provides utilities to county residents.
The Community Services Department provides cultural, recreational, and preventative programs through Family and Community Support Services (FCSS), that enhance the quality of life for those living in or visiting the County.
