Northern Sunrise County Not Requesting a Curfew from the Province of Alberta

Following the announcement from the Province of Alberta on April 29, 2021, regarding targeted regional measures to bend the curve, Northern Sunrise County will not be requesting a curfew.  Even though the statistical data for the County, which also encompasses the Village of Nampa and Woodland Cree First Nation, has an active case rate above 1,000 per 100,000; currently there are 35 active cases over an extremely large geographical area and a combined population of 3,188 residents.

The Province of Alberta has also stated in their media release dated April 29, 2021 that “To prevent rural areas with small populations from being unfairly impacted, municipalities with fewer than 250 active cases will be excluded from the threshold.”

The County encourages all residents to continue to follow the health measures in place and, if eligible, to sign up for vaccinations to keep yourself and others safe.
