News:
At the regular Council meeting held on March 12, 2024, Administration was directed to:
- Send a letter to the Minister of Education regarding the challenges faced by Peace River School Division (PRSD) and request that the Province respond on how they will address the identified issues provided from the February 7, 2024 joint meeting with the PRSD Board of Trustees and regional municipalities.
Bylaws:
- Council gave second and third reading to and passed Bylaw B440/24 for the purpose of amending the Land Use BylawB275/15 for the creation of a Mixed Density Rural Residential District as presented.
- Council gave third reading to and passed Bylaw B443/24 Lending Bylaw for the Peace River Regional Women’s Shelter Society as presented.
- Council gave third reading to and passed Bylaw B438/23 Economic and Tourism Development Committee as presented.
- Council gave first and second reading to Bylaw B444/24 Youth Council Committee as presented. Third reading will be requested at the March 26, 2024 regular Council meeting.
- Council gave first and second reading to Bylaw B445/24 Bursary Review Committee as presented. Third reading will be requested at the March 26, 2024 regular Council meeting.
Policies:
- Council approved Policy 1.37 Bursary Program as presented.
Donations and Sponsorships:
- $200 to the Peace River Junior Curling Club for their Curling Bonspiel/End of Season Party in Peace River, AB
- $5,000 to the Peace River Rotaract Club for the Rotaract River Days Event on July 5-7, 2024 in Peace River, AB.
- $2,000 to the Grimshaw & District Chamber of Commerce for the Harvest Moon Festival on September 14, 2024 in Grimshaw, AB.
