News:
At the regular Council meeting held on April 9, 2024, Administration was directed to:
- Send a letter to the Premier regarding Council’s opposition to the current changes being made to the police-base victim services programs in Alberta.
Council approved the 2024 – 2027 Operating Budget and the 2024 – 2029 Capital Budget as amended.
Bylaws:
- Council gave first and second reading to Bylaw B451/24 Tax Rate Bylaw as presented. Third reading will be requested at the April 23, 2024 regular Council meeting.
Presentations:
- Allen Gukert and Remi Nault with Apex Security Inc. provided a presentation on an overview of their Public Security Unit operations.
Donations and Sponsorships:
- $1,000 and a $50 silent auction item to the Community Planning Association of Alberta (CPAA) for their 2024 CPAA Conference on April 29 – May 1, 2024 in Red Deer, AB.
- $900 to the Alberta Community Crime Prevention Association for their Crime Prevention and Community Safety Conference on May 6-8, 2024 in Calgary, AB.
- $5,000 to the Peace River Boating Association for the Lower West Peace Boat Launch area upgrades in Peace River, AB.
- $13,250 to the Peace River Aboriginal Interagency Committee for their 2024 community events as follows:
- $1,000 for the Aboriginal Virtual Youth Career Workshop on May 2, 2024
- $500 for the Red Dress Day Event on May 5, 2024
- $500 for the Annual Indigenous Art Show on May 23, 2024
- $5,000 for the Peace River Pow Wow on June 1-2, 2024
- $1,000 for the Peace River Pow Wow Calendars Fundraiser
- $1,250 for the National Indigenous Peoples Day at Riverfront Park on June 21, 2024
