Statement on the discovery of the remains of 215 children at the Kamloops Indian Residential School

Northern Sunrise County sends its deepest sympathies to the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc (Ttes) and surrounding communities as well as our local First Nation and Métis communities.

This news is a sad reminder of the tragedies that occurred in the residential school system and the wounds carried by communities, families, and Survivors into today.

Flags at the County locations will be lowered today until June 8, 2021 – a total of 215 hours to honour these children and the families and community members who mourn them today and forever.
