News:

Council authorized the Reeve to sign the Memorandum of Understanding with the Fish and Wildlife Enforcement Branch for a Seasonal Problem Wildlife Technician in the amount of $32,500.

Council deferred second reading of Bylaw B348/19 for the purpose of redistricting approximately 132.33 acres within S-28- 84-21-W5M from Environmental Park Reserve District (EPR) to Natural Resource Industrial District (NRM) until a communication plan with the Local Communication Committee has been received from Canadian Silica Industries.

Council proclaimed May 19-25, 2019 as National Public Works Week.

Presentations:

  • Council received a presentation from the Peace Regional RCMP Detachment regarding the Community Liaison Officer quarterly report as well as community policing priorities and service requirements for 2019.  Council identified Seniors, Youth, and Rural Crime as priorities for the County.
  • Council received a presentation from members of the Conseil scolaire du Nord-Ouest (Francophone School District) regarding an update of their operations.
  • Council received a presentation from Cheri Peterson with MNP regarding the County’s 2018 Audited Financial Statements. Council approved the financial statements as presented.

Sponsorships:

  • $500 for the Heart River Golf Club Hole in One Tournament on June 22, 2019.  Two Councillors will also be participating as “Hole Spotters” for the tournament.
  • $1,500 for the Alberta Community Crime Prevention Association Conference on May 6-9, 2019 in Canmore, AB.
  • $5,000 to Beyond the Heart Clubhouse to assist with their 2019 operations.
