May 27, 2025 Council Meeting Highlights

 News:

 At the regular Council meeting held on May 27, 2025, Administration was directed to: 

• Send Unit #62002 – 2017 Ford Terra Transit Van to auction, as per Policy 1.2 Disposal of Surplus Items.
• Send congratulatory letters to newly appointed cabinet ministers.
• Work in collaboration with the County of Northern Lights in cost-sharing for a Nuclear Energy Education session.
• Send a letter of support to the Peace Regional Healthcare Attraction and Retention Committee in hosting the Rural Health Professions Action Plan Biennial Conference.  

 Council approved the temporary closure of a portion of Sunrise Road for the June 18 Canada Day County Celebration.

 

 Bylaws:

• Council gave a third reading and passed Bylaw 471/25 Procedural Bylaw.

 

Presentations:

• Clynton Butz with Glenmary Saints Senior Basketball presented a request for donation for their upcoming trip.

 

Donations and Sponsorships:

• $2,139.90 to the Heart River Golf Club for the purchase of an Automated External Defibrillator.
• $1,000 for the Glenmary Saints Senior Basketball team in fundraising for the tournament in San Diego, CA. The team will provide 50 volunteer hours in upcoming County events.

 

Upcoming Council Meetings:

• June 10, 2025, and June 24, 2025, regular Council Meetings at 9:30 a.m. in the Northern Sunrise County Council Chamber.
