News:
Council proclaimed May 18-24, 2025, as National Public Works Week in Northern Sunrise County.
Council approved Development Permit Application 25-08 for the development of a temporary camp within NE-35-80-19-W5M with the standard development conditions and the following additional conditions:
- The camp will be in operation for a period no longer than the 2025 tree planting season;
- An Emergency Response Plan approved by the Director of Protective Services;
- Muster point identified within the parking area, adequate lighting, and marked stalls for residents to ensure safety in case of an emergency; and
- The site shall be reclaimed to its original state when the site is no longer in operation.
Council appointed Tyson Krall as a public member on the Agriculture Service Board. Council also appointed Amaya Ali to the Youth Council Advisory Committee.
Bylaws:
Council gave third reading and passed Bylaw B470/25 Tax Rate Bylaw for 2025.
- Council gave second and third reading and passed Bylaw B469/25 for the purpose of redistricting 12.9 acres within part of SE24-81-21 W5M from Agricultural District (A) to Country Residential District (CR) as presented.
Presentations:
- Karla Reesor, Executive Director and Shelly Shannon, Outreach Education Coordinator with the Peace River Area Monitoring Program provided an update of their operations.
- Cheri Peterson, Senior Manager with MNP presented the County’s 2024 Audited Financial Statements.
Donations and Sponsorships:
- $500 to Emma Lavoie for the 2025 Shad Canada Summer Camp.
- $75,000 to the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation for the Ken Sargent House project in Grande Prairie AB.
- $1,000 to the Peace River Scottish Dance Society for their upcoming dance competition.
- $1,500 Nord-Ouest FM to assist with their operations.
