
February 11 Council Highlights
At the regular Council meeting held on February 11, 2025 Administration was directed to:
- Request a meeting with the Commanding Officer from the K Division RCMP at the Rural Municipalities of Alberta Spring Convention on March 17-19, 2025 in Edmonton, AB to discuss the following topics:
- the Provincial Police Service Agreement
- the downloading of Mental Health services from the Province
- Prison terms for drivers who illegally pass school buses
- Addressing rural crime outside the Safer Communities and Neighbourhoods Unit
Council declared an Agricultural Disaster for honey producers in Northern Sunrise County for 2024 and directed Administration to send a letter to the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation.
Council appointed public members Clynton Butz and Simon Lavoie to the Intermunicipal Weed & Pest Appeal Board.
Bylaws:
- Council gave first and second reading to Bylaw B464/25 Fees and Charges Bylaw and Bylaw B467/25 Revised Credit Card Borrowing Bylaw, as presented. Third reading of the Bylaws will be requested at the February 25, 2025 regular Council meeting.
Policies:
- Council approved Policy 3.24 Corporate Credit Card Use
Presentations:
- Dustin Wilkes, Ryan Tourigny, with Nucleon Energy and Neil Alexander with Bucephalus Consulting provided a presentation on Small Modular Reactor Development.
Donations and Sponsorships:
- $1,000 to the Community Planning Association of Alberta for their 2025 Annual Conference on April 28-30, 2025 in Red Deer, AB.

- February 25 & March 11, 2025 regular Council Meetings at 9:30 a.m. in the Northern Sunrise County Council Chamber.
