Northern Sunrise County Council Approves 2025 Budget and Tax Rate Bylaw
On April 8, 2025, Northern Sunrise County Council approved the final capital and operations budgets for 2025. Council also approved the 2025 tax rate bylaw on April 22, 2025. Due to ongoing sound planning and fiscal management by Council and Administration, the County has been able to maintain the same mill rate for our residential, farmland and industrial properties. The 2025 budget includes an estimated $32,194,927 in revenue, $23,583,780 for general operations expenses, $1,284,954 for debt payments and $9,789,000 for capital investments.
“Council has approved the 2025 operating and capital budgets, even as we continue to grapple with the impacts of provincial downloading and reduced funding from the province. We remain committed to advocating strongly on behalf of the County and the region, raising these and other pressing concerns with the provincial government. While we are deeply concerned about the current and future reductions in provincial support, our focus remains on ensuring sustainable services and responsible financial planning for our community.”
Council and Administration have developed a balanced budget that invests in critical projects and essential programs and is thankful that our strategic decision-making allows us to continue providing consistent services to County taxpayers. Once again, the budget maintains service levels and continues to place the County in a stable financial position.
A few of the projects Council approved for 2025 include:
- Annual Gravel Haul – Three Creeks and Cadotte Lake
- Local Road & Bridge Maintenance
- Fleet and Equipment Replacement which includes a new Community Services Van
- Annual Drainage program
- Utilities Upgrades
