Rural Settlement District "RS"

Purpose

The purpose of this District is to provide for the control of development in an area of the County which contains a unique concentration of residential and 
community uses in an established rural setting.

Discretionary Uses

Agricultural Industry
Agricultural Intensive
Agricultural Pursuit, Minor
Brewery, Winery and/or Distillery
Cemetery
Child Care Facility
Community Centre
Kennel
Occupation, Home (Type II)
Public Use
Public Utility
Radiocommunication and Broadcasting Antenna System
Recreation, Intensive
Religious Use Facility
Sign
Solar Collector
Storage Tank, Aboveground
Wind Energy Conversion System, Small (Type A)

Regulations

When deciding on an application for development in this district, the Development Authority shall consider the following:

  1. the site provisions and general requirements as set out for the Hamlet Residential, Hamlet Commercial or Hamlet Industrial districts, as these might apply to the specific development,
  2. the existing uses of the neighboring lands,
  3. the proposed water and sewer servicing,
  4. access to public roadways,
  5. other such matters as are deemed necessary having due regard to the nature of a proposed development and the purpose of this development.
