Crude Oil Storage District "COS"
Purpose
The purpose of this District is to regulate the placement of crude oil storage facilities within the County.

Minimum Setbacks from a Highway or Public Road

In the case of a Highway, the minimum setback for the development shall be determined by Alberta Transportation on a case by case basis.

In the case of a rural road, the minimum setback shall be 15.2m (50ft) from any public road right of way, or greater as required by the Development Authority.
Other Minimum Setbacks
- 100m (328ft) from the normal high-water mark of a body of water, permanent stream, or water well used for domestic purposes.
- All other minimum setbacks as required by the Development Authority.
Regulations
When deciding on an application for development in this district, the Development Authority shall consider the following:
- the environmental sensitivity of the site where the material will be stored,
- the accessibility of the tanks in the event of an emergency,
- the identification of the storage facilities,
- landscaping and buffering,
- site containment of product,
- traffic impact and access arrangements.
