About NEW water Limited

The Northern Alberta communities of Northern Sunrise County (NSC), the Village of Nampa, Woodland Cree First Nation (WCFN), and Lubicon Lake Band #453 (LLB) have formed a collaborative partnership to meet current and future water needs of their communities. NEW water Ltd. (NwL) operates a regional water system with the objective of delivering safe and reliable drinking water to a number of the farming communities, Hamlets, Village, and First Nations communities in the region.

The System

The water system includes:

  • Desilting Pond
  • Raw Water Transmission Line
  • Raw Water Reservoir
  • Water Treatment Plant (WTP)
  • Regional Treated Water Transmission Line System

The NwL Regional Water System draws raw water from the Peace River and the raw water supply systems pump the water out of the river valley to a raw water storage pond near the NwL WTP. The water is filtered through a microfiltration membrane system and treated. The treated water is then pumped into two regional transmission pipelines: the East Transmission Pipeline and the South Transmission Pipeline. The South Transmission line services St. Isidore, Three Creeks, the Village of Nampa, Marie Reine, and Reno. The East Transmission Pipeline currently services WCFN and LLB.

The transmission pipelines supply treated potable water to numerous reservoirs and fill stations, some owned by NwL and some owned by NSC. The reservoirs and fill stations include truck fill systems to allow rural residents to easily fill up on potable water as needed.

There are 8 truck fill stations for residents to use, they are located in:

  • Marie Reine
  • The Village of Nampa
  • Harmon Valley
  • Reno
  • St. Isidore
  • Three Creeks
  • Cadotte Lake
  • Little Buffalo
