October 14, 2025, Council Meeting

News:

At the regular Council meeting held on October 14, 2025, Administration was directed to:

 

• Request a meeting with the Minister of Assisted Living and Social Services to discuss the Province’s decision to remove the discretionary point system used for working applicants from the Heart River Housing Ministerial Order.
• Provide a letter to the Minister of Environment and Protected Areas regarding the concerns of water fluctuations on the Peace River.

 

Council approved the closure of County Facilities from December 24, 2025, to January 1, 2026, inclusive.

 

Bylaws:

Council gave first, second, and third readings and passed Bylaw B474/25, Revised Economic Development and Tourism Development Committee.

 

Presentations:

• Sarah Blakely, a Member of the Peace River Curling Club, presented a request for a donation for their Oktoberfest event.
• Louise Small and Marie Dyck of the Arbo Revitalization Society presented a request for a donation to support their Arboretum improvement project.

 

Donations and Sponsorships:

• $1,000 to the Peace River Municipal Library & Art Gallery for the 2025 Festival of Trees Event.
• $10,000 to the Arbo Revitalization Society for their Arboretum Improvement Project.

 

Upcoming Council Meetings:

October 30, 2025, Organizational Meeting, at 9:30 a.m., with the October 30, 2025, Regular Council Meeting to follow.

November 12, 2025, Regular Council Meeting at 9:30 a.m. in the Northern Sunrise County Council Chamber.
