Wesley Creek Trail Grand Opening and Poker Rally

Wesley Creek Trail Grand Opening and Poker Rally
On Saturday March 5, 2015, the Peace Valley Snow Riders held the ribbon cutting ceremony to officially open their Wesley Creek Trail. This 30 kilometer trail, which is located east of St. Isidore with the staging area located on TR 842, was developed at a cost of approximately
$40,000 in cash and donations plus just under 200 hours of volunteer labour.

Chris Leroux representing Baytex Energy Corp, who along with Weaver Welding Ltd. were major contributors to the development of the trail, and Dan Boisvert – Councillor for Northern Sunrise County, on whose property the staging area is located, jointly cut the ribbon. Also shown in the attached picture is Carolyn Kolebaba – Deputy Reeve of Northern Sunrise County and Dwayne Buchholtz – Club Director/Trail Development & Operations Committee Chair.

Although snow conditions have been poor this year, the 2” of snow that fell on Wednesday also allowed the Club to host their first Poker Rally in conjunction with the Grand Opening. Approximately 50 snowmobiles participated with Warren Todoschuk receiving first prize and Roger Osmond receiving both second and third prize. Being the first such event for the Club and given the short notice in advertising the event, the Club is pleased with the turnout and hence it is likely that more such events will be held in future years. The Club would like to acknowledge Travis Wood from Go Recreation and Eric Buchholtz from Roadrunner Leasing & Sales Ltd. for organizing the Poker Rally. The proceeds from this event will go towards the maintenance and operation costs of the Club’s trails.
