News:

At the regular Council meeting held on March 26, 2019, Administration was directed to:

  • Send a letter to the Peace River Salvation Army requesting permission for the County Community Services department to assist with the food bank intake forms for County residents.
  • Research options for retrofitting existing facilities in the Village of Nampa and St. Isidore as childcare facilities.
  • Organize a BBQ dinner for the RCMP Musical Ride members and municipal dignitaries on August 26, 2019 in the amount of $1,500.

Council proclaimed June 2-8, 2019 as Seniors’ Week in Northern Sunrise County.

Bylaws:

Council gave first reading to Bylaw B348/19 for the purpose of redistricting approximately 132.33 acres within S-28-84-21-W5M from Environmental Park Reserve District (EPR) to Natural Resource Industrial District (NRM).  The Public Hearing will he held on April 23, 2019 at 10:00 a.m.

            Council approved the following Policies:

  • Policy 2.4 Grasshoppers
  • Policy 2.8 Public Area Maintenance
  • Policy 2.11 Pest Control
  • Policy 2.17 Soil Management and Conservation

Sponsorships:

  • $500to the MD of Opportunity and Bigstone Cree Nation Charity Golf Tournament, August 8, 2019 in Wabasca, AB.
  • $750 to the Canadian Motorcycle Tourism Association for the Veterans Gardens being constructed in Grande Prairie, AB.
  • $600 to each Community Group organizing a Seniors’ Week Event.
  • $1,000 for membership to the Coalition of Canadian Municipalities to support rural initiatives.

Presentations:

  • Council received a presentation from Wayne Thorp with the Canadian Silica Industries Local Communications Committee regarding the Canadian Silica Industries Application for Redistricting SE and SW of Section 28-84-21-W5.
